Towards a Less Fucked Up World: Sobriety and Anarchist Struggle. This is one of my favorite zines and played a huge role in the political, ethical, and feminist evolution of my adherence to the straightedge. If you consider yourself a feminist, or an anarchist, or an activist, and feel as though I’ve expressed my belief that these things are interconnected in too extreme or aggressive a manner, or haven’t expressed it well enough to understand, I highly suggest you click the link, download the pdf, and read it all the way through. Nick Riotfag is a better writer than me and a whole lot more accessible with his presentation of the ideas he and I have tried to get out there. He focuses specifically not only on the alienation and lack of safe spaces that exists in even radical communities for sober individuals, but on how sobriety/straightedge plays a practical and crucial part in our collective fight for anarchism and against oppression, capitalism, consumer culture, sexism, misogyny, rape, privilege, and even racism and homophobia.
